Challenge PokerSnowie Putting Players to the Ultimate Test
In December, the
poker training software
PokerCoach introduced a
Challenge feature. Ever since, players have been battling the PokerSnowie AI bots and, perhaps surprisingly, have been getting dominated. According to a recent update from the folks who created the PokerSnowie AI bots, "The precise figures stand at 1,852,809 hands played, with an average error rate for all players of 16.89 and a global win rate for PokerSnowie of 20.83 bb/100." That's pretty remarkable.
In heads-up play, beginning players have logged nearly 100,000 hands against PokerSnowie, but the latter has a colossal win rate of 54.67 bb/100. Intermediate players in heads-up games have seen PokerSnowie crush them for 32.86 bb/100, while advanced players have encountered a loss of 18.63 bb/100. Expert players have done decently well against the AI software, only forfeiting 5.66 bb/100, while world-class players have actually beaten PokerSnowie heads-up at a rate of 5.19 bb/100.
In six-max play, the win rates by PokerSnowie are not as pronounced. The software is besting beginning players at an average clip of 18.65 bb/100, while intermediate players are ceding 14.56 bb/100. Advanced players are losing in six-max games at a rate of 5.24 bb/100 to PokerSnowie, expert players are getting beat for 4.73 bb/100, and world-class players are down 2.53 bb/100.
Finally, in full ring games, beginning players are losing at a rate of 30.94 bb/100, intermediate players are out 9.39 bb/100, advanced players are down 6.45 bb/100, expert players are losing at a rate of 4.43 bb/100, and world-class players have been getting shredded to the tune of 8.14 bb/100.
All of this data doesn't mean PokerSnowie will beat you every time you play. In fact, as players' aptitude has increased, so too has their success. According to PokerSnowie officials, "PokerSnowie had its first losing day on January 16 and we're expecting that, as the quality of opponents increases, the win rate will fall slightly."
Coming soon to Challenge PokerSnowie are short-stack and deep-stack options, which will help players hone their games in various situations.
In the comments section of an article posted on PokerSnowie's website about the challenge, one poster heralded that PokerSnowie is helping take his game to the next level: "PokerSnowie is having a dramatic impact on my game. By strengthening my opening ranges, it has helped me to get into less trouble post-flop. Also, by encouraging me to sometimes 3bet and 4bet with the proper ranges, it is preventing me from being a nit. I have a decent understanding of pre-flop play at this point."
If you're interested in PokerCoach 2, the software is available for €119 for one year. There is also a 10-day free trial.
